A poster for “17th Sakura period festival” is too lovely to miss.

That poster was painted by Makoto Takahashi. He sketched this detailed painting with colored pencils and watercolor. This is truly incredible for a 81 year old.

The delicate painting style and the gender-neutral name of the painter “Makoto” often make people think the painter is a female. Mr. Takahashi is one of the prominent manga illustrators whose pictures appear in the top corner of weekly comic books cover for girls, “Nakayoshi” and “Margaret”. He has also created illustration work and designed stationary items. It’s also believed that he is the first illustrator who added stars in girls’ eyes.

And it’s still hard to believe that he’s 81.
